45 years of Advaita! What are the rewards of such longevity? Chitta Suddhi has some relative reward but is ultimately limited and still ignorant. The reward of Advaita is infinite, not finite. So unless we recognize the ever revealed moksa, Advaita is just another faith based pursuit that only leads to renunciation, deep thinking and the same old fool. .

There are two shakhas of Atharvaveda still extant Shaunaka (in Gujarat)
and Paippalada (in Orrissa.) So it is not quite the same situation as
they are two separate shakhas and each is relatively small and
geographically concentrated.

They went to Gujarat and learned the traditions there as the Atharvavedic
sampradaya is in a better state of preservation. You should definitely
read Animesh's blog. There is much more information there.

Reciting Om or other mantras is not a Vedantic practice per se but a Yogic
one though of course the two are rather intertwined. Vedantic practice
revolves around understanding the difference between what is real and
unreal, separating oneself from the unreal, and acquiring knowledge of the
real. The other spiritual practices are a preparation for this. (By
which I do not mean to imply that theey are not important in their own
sphere.)
