[Advaita-l] Ritual Purity, Svadhyaya, and Commute

Namaste

Sruti is stronger than Smriti and Sistacara. In a way Smriti cannot
increase the number of same Karma because that is a contradiction in a
way. If it is asking us to do new Karma like Deva Puja and so on it is
alright because Sruti is silent there. Where Sruti is silent and has
not said anything Smriti and Sistacara can come and make Vidhi and
Nishedha. But where Sruti has spoken it cannot be changed by Smriti
and Sistacara.

Example - Sruti has said Matrudevo Bhava Treat your mother like a god
and give her respect. But Sruti has not said anything about
Grandmother. Sistacara is saying give respect to your grandmother
also. This is fine.

Similarly Sruti is silent on Mangalya Dharana. Sistacara can come and
say there should be Mangalya Dharana in marriage. This is fine also.
