Namaste Subbuji,

Thanks, this reminds me of an incident I was told about Shridhar Swamiji by
someone who frequently accompanied Him. Swamiji was then recently gifted a
tiger skin by someone and was sitting on it in a similar set up of darshana
when a person was waiting in front of Swamiji for long. When the person was
asked by Swamiji as to if he wanted something, he said he wanted a tiger
skin. Swamiji asked someone to look inside if there was any tiger skin to
be found but there was none. This person was eyeing Swamiji's seat with the
tiger's head nicely filled up and looking alive. Then, Sridhar Swamiji
asked "idu kodlano? (shall I give you this)?" pointing to it. He said
"yes". Swamiji just got up and handed over the same. The chap went away.

A day later or so, in the darshana, Swamiji asked around for the person who
had gifted the tiger skin, as he was nowhere to be found. On inquiring,
someone said, the person hasn't come. Swamiji said, "hmmm, lets go to his
place"! On reaching his house, the person was surprised seeing the
visitors. Swamiji smilingly asked him "yAko, nanna mele kopA bandidiyA?
(why, are you angry with me)"? He started crying replying "No Swamiji, I
felt sad that you gave away the tiger skin which I had prepared for you. It
was for you to use!" On this Swamiji said the golden words "eshto adu mohA
hulicharmada mele!!! (how much is the attachment you have to the tiger
skin)? After you gave it to me, was it yours to cry over?" Suddenly, the
fellow fell at Swamiji's feet and expressed his wish to perform pAdapUja.
He didn't have much. Swamiji just asked him to not bother for details, but
just put a flower and pour water on the feet.
