Dear Sri Vidyasankar Sundaresan,
You write :"Those who inquire into the questions you asked keep silent, as they should!"I have not been able to understand the meaning of that sentence. I request you kindly to explain it in a way which a lay man like me can understand. Your kind response would be gratefully acknowledged.

Dear Sri Kripa Shankar,

Namaste,

There are two aspects to this. One is that mantra recitation is not only for realization of self, but also to accomplish desires. The Brahmanas (not the caste) are solely for this purpose, isn't it? Then again some in the West are exploring mantra therapy. ‎The body is gross, prANa is subtle, manas is even more subtle. So I feel mantras are really good for our own well being if not to get Moksha.

Secondly, I can keep asking myself 'who am I ' for the rest of my life but the answer doesn't change over time. If one has to realize the Self, then the only real path is renouncement ‎of desires. Indriya Nigraha. All other superficial methods are mere words anyone can speak. Na karmana na prajaya dhanena tyagenaika amritatvam......‎

Regards
Kripa ‎

Dear Friends,
Who exists prior to the recitation of the mantra which is nothing but a group of varnas? Who is the knower of the recitation itself? Who is the chanter? Has anyone of you made an inquiry / enquiry into this question?

With respectful namaskarams,Sreenivasa Murthy
