 karmopaastistathaa jnaanamiti kaaNDatrayaM kramaat.h |
 tadruupaashhTaadashaadhyaayairgiitaa kaaNDatrayaatmikaa || 4 ||

 word for word meaning:

 karma - action
 upaasti - meditation or worship
 tathaa - as well as
 jnaanaM - knowledge
 iti - thus
 kaaNDatrayaM - the three sections of the Vedas
 kramaat.h - in order
 tadruupaa - consisting of that
 ashhTaadashaadhyaayaiH - by the eighteen chapters
 giitaa - giitaa
 kaaNDatrayaatmikaa - characterized by three sections.

 Translation:

  The three sections (of the Vedas), in order, deal with karma (work),
  upaasana (worship), and jnaana (knowledge). In a similar fashion,
  the Giitaa, with its eighteen chapters, should be (considered) as
  consisting of  three sections.
