The Vedanta and Samkhya philosopies are very little opposed to each other.
Vedanta's God developed out of Samkhya's Purusha. Sll the systems accept the
psychology of Samkhya. Both Vedanta and Samkhya believe in an infinite
Soul, but Smakhya believes there are many Souls. According to Samkhya, this
universe does not ewquuire any expanation from outside. The Vedantis velieve
there is one Soul, which appears as many; and htey build on Samkhya's
analysis. (From Swami Vivekananda's tald of March 24, 1896.)
