  your question has already been answered.  please refer to Swami Mahesanandagiri's  English introduction to Chandogya Upanishad Bhashya.  published by Mahesh research institure Varanasi.

  the question in Satyakama's case was only his GOTRA i.e. lineage and not varna.     refer that book for greater clarification.
