[Advaita-l] Sankaracharya

As far as I am aware Adi Sankara established four Peethas, at Badrinath, 
Puri, Sringeri and Dwaraka.  How did the Kanchi Peetha originate?  Was it 
set up by the Adi Sankara?  Can any one please clarify?
