[Advaita-l] 'DampatI' in pUrvamImAmsA

In the pUrvamImAmsA shAstra it has been determined that in a (any) karma
where the husband-wife pair in involved, it is considered that there is
only one kartA (putting the two together) and the fruit of that karma is
same/equal for the two. Here is the stated portion from an authoritative

//483 पत्युर्नो। पत्युरिति षष्ठी। `न' इत्यकार उच्चारणार्थः।
स्त्रियामित्यधिकृतम्। तदाह–पतिशब्दस्येति। यज्ञेनेति। यज्ञसंबन्धः=यज्ञेन सह
स्वामितया संबन्धः। यज्ञफलभोक्तृत्वमिति यावत्। तदाह–तत्कर्तृकस्येति।
वसिष्ठकर्तृकस्येत्यर्थः। ननु वसिष्ठकर्तृकयज्ञस्य वसिष्ठ एव फलभोक्तृत्युचितं
(*फलभोका इत्युचितम्)*, नतु तत्स्त्र्यपि, `स्वर्गकामः' इत्यादिपुंलिङ्गशब्दैः
पुंस एवाधिकारावगमादित्यत आह– दम्पत्योः सहाधिकारादिति। एतच्च प्रकृतसूत्रे
भाष्ये स्पष्टम्। अत एव पूर्वमीमांसायां षष्ठस्य प्रथमपादे
`लिङ्गविशेषनिर्देशात्पुंयुक्तमैतिशायनः' इत्यधिकरणे `स्ववतोस्तु
वचनादैककर्म्यं स्यात्' इत्यधिकरणे च दम्पत्योः सहाधिकारः सिद्धान्तितः।
प्रपञ्चितं चैतदस्माभिरध्वरमीमांसाकुतूहलवृत्तौ। //
During a conversation with Dr.Mani Dravid SastrigaL, upon my asking about
the status of the wife in a Vedic ritual, he cited the above concept and
the relevant references. Upon a search in the internet I located the
above. With regard to the other ritviks enlisted by the yajamAna for the
karmA, there is no such phala accruing to them as the above; they get their
dakShiNA for their role and that is all their fruit.
