Similarly Ramanuja has rejected the Bauddhas 2nd Adhyaya and 2nd Pada
and written conclusion in 2-2-31 like this - 'निरस्ताः सौगताः' the
Bauddhas are rejected. How can he give respect to Buddha? Not
possible. The Vaishnavas belief is Buddha Avatara was to mislead
Daityas and bad people. His teachings must not be followed by good
people. Show me one Vaishnava doing Pooja to Buddha.
- True - SOme of the vaishnava scholars I interact really dislike Buddha.
However I see that Buddha was interpreted wrongly.
Buddha brought in the culture of Meditation and through meditation being
free of all vasanas.
Shankar brought in the spirit of enquiry and questioning to be free of all
vasanas.
I feel both are complementary.
*On a second note - why Buddhism will not have a appeal with the masses ?*
- Very intellectual - will make the culture dry and meaningless.
- Sometimes tends to increase the ego.
- Too much of analysis.
- No music and dance to reach the supreme .
I have couple of friends whose faith is close to Buddhism. I feel that
they have NO RASA or KAVYA in them.
I think it is here Shankara with his focus on Soundarya and Satyam - with
music pulls us away from the samsara in a joyous manner.
On this guru poornima day - I bow to him for guiding us to the eternal and
the timeless.
