Thanks for giving the dvaita perspective on this.  I had asked this question somewhere else :-)  can we find anything like this in Sri rAmAnuja's Sri bhAshya??

Madhvacharya, for the particular portion of the Satyakama episode, just cites a verse from a 'sāmasamhitā and says nothing more:

p.67 -

आर्जवं ब्राह्मणे साक्षात् शूद्रोऽनार्जवलक्षणः । गौतमस्त्विति विज्ञाय सत्यकाममुपानयत् ॥ इति सामसंहितायाम् ।

The above verse translates to:

'Straightforwardness (Truth) is seen directly in a brāhmaṇa and a śūdra is naturally lacking it. Gautama, thus concluding, initiated Satyakāma.'
