Namaste,
Let us agree to disagree. May be, you are not aware of Rukmini's love letter, probably the earliest love letter in the history of mankind, written by a lady to her loved one, to rescue her. Rukmini-harana by Lord Krishna was not at all of the Rakshasha type. It was all for the sake of love. Rukmini willingly went with Lord Krishna, all for her love and only intervened and prayed to Lord Krishna only to spare the life of her defeated brother.
Regards,
skb

Namaste
AFAIK Krishna's marriage with Rukmini was Rakshasa type only
because
He took Her by Force and with no approval from parents. In
Rakshasa
marriage the girl has to be carried away by force and
fighting if the
girl's family is opposing. This will not happen for Brahmins
because
Brahmins are not fighting class. In olden days Brahmin's
following the
Dharma Sutras were marrying very young girls before
maturity. Because
it is bad for father's house if girl is mature physically
and still
staying unmarried in father's house. 24 year males after
Vedic
education were marrying 8 or 10 year old girls. Mostly they
were
marrying before maturity and keeping the girl in her
father's house
till she became mature. Then they were bringing her to
mother in law's
house.
Shakuntala and Dushyanta's marriage is Gandharva marriage.
It is like
modern Love Marriage.
I also think there was no Horoscope matching in Mahabharata
and
Ramayana time. Probably they were seeing Nakshatras and
Gotras only.
Bride and bridegroom Gotras must be different.

used in pre Mahabharata times only for determining the
Suryodaya lagna (or the Ascendant, also called the Rising

astrology. Considering the adverse position of a
particular powerful graha, Janaka had the marriage of
Lord Ram and Mother Sita performed in a particular
nakshatra, so that the ill-effect of that graha could be
circumvented, or at least minimised. After the Mahabharata
times, the Abhijit nakshatra was dropped and there remained
only 27 nakshatras in the Zodiac. The 27 nakshatras were
equally divide into twelve zones and accommodated in the
twelve rashis and from that time onwards the
astrology, which we follow today) came to be used. The fall
of the Abhijit and the making of the Rashi-chakra with the
nakshatras in the rashis, is a big subject, and is not
relevant to the main subject of these groups of ours.
