Well, one should read the book of a  modern saint -The autobiography of a yogi. Or Theosophical society accounts of the gurus in Himalayas. JK supposed to have learned at the feet of the master, which later denounces all gurus.

Hagiographies of saints can hardly be taken as reliable evidence for
historical purposes. Madhvas also believe that Madhvacharya met
Krishna-Dvaipayana. Hardly any person is going to take such claims
seriously.
