'Panchikaranam' text referred in Panchadashi
Swami Vidyaranya refers to the text 'Panchikaranam': 9.64
It is traditionally held that this text is authored by Shankaracharya.
Perhaps the earliest mention of this work by name is in the Panchadashi.
One more noteworthy feature of the Panchikaranam is that Shankara mentions
the 'kāraṇa śarīram' by name:
https://sanskritdocuments.org/doc_z_misc_shankara/paJNchi.html?lang=sa
Shankara identifies the karana shariram as the ajnana that underlies
samsara. He also states that it cannot be treated as existence or
otherwise, implying its anirvachaniyatvam.
Sureshwaracharya, in the vartika too, in two verses, 39 and 40, comments on
the above karana shariram. Shankara has referred to the karana shariram in
the Ishavasya 8 bhashya too:
The above means: Brahman/Atman is distinct from the jiva in being devoid of
the kaarana shariram, which is the seed ignorance that gives rise to the
subtle and gross bodies.
The Panchikarana Vartika, just as admitting the Hiranyagarbha (sutratma) to
be a product of the apanchikrta pancha bhutas in 6, admits of the Viraat to
be the product of the panchikrta pancha bhutas in 7.
The specification of the adhideivata for each organ, in this text is seen
to be there in the Sarva vedanta siddhanta saara sangraha.
