[Advaita-l] About Moksha or Enlightenment

‎Namaste Rajesh,
‎
Thank you for putting the whole thing in perspective. ‎

If we assume that some animals have obtained Moksha, does that mean Jivanmukti or krama mukti? Because lack of bhajan yogyata also implies lack of anusandhana yogyata.
‎
So in that case, if we consider an exceptional case, jnana is not necessarily the only cause for enlightenment. ‎

‎Regards
Kripa

Namaste Kripaji,

If we go with BhagavAn BhasyakAraa and tikAkAra then this problem of animal geting moskha does not come as they do not define pApayoni here as animals.

महामण्डलेश्वर श्रीमत्स्वामी विद्यानन्दगिरिजी is also clear in his ललिताव्याख्या of शाङ्करभाष्य that as per भगवान्भाष्यकार pApayoni means stri, vaishya, sudra here.

And in the very next verse tikAkAra clear it that animal are not fit for bhagvad bhajanam,

So he says that it is durlabham, so there can be apavAdam.

About the animals can get moksha or not? We can put in category of apavAdam. There is a rare possibity that some time a human can born with such a prArabdha which needs more than one janma to exhaust. So if he/she gets brahma jnAnam, still he/she may reborn again. I forgot the maximum span of lfie in such case but I think it can be many hundred years. So in that case you get the videhamukti in you last birth.

Any you are correct about Sri Abhinava Gupt ji commentry.

I am not sure how tradition explains गजेन्द्रमोक्ष by extended prArabdha or ?

My two cents

Thanks

Namaste Kripaji,

I knew on reading the very first mail of yours that your "target" is yet again RM. Unfortunately, your sole purpose on this list seems to be RM. Be that as it may; to each his own. However, you bring an interesting thing up... which points to some more things your are unaware of...

‎I forgot to add this point in previous email. We SanAtana Dharmis don't worship samadhis or offer puja to it. It is strange that in Ramanashram, they worship the grave of RM.

... The "grave" that you think it is, is a samAdhi and although you may be ignorant, samAdhis are indeed worshipped in the orthodox tradition. In fact, there is an elaborate vidhi of processing the body of a jnAni/ sannyAsi to make the samAdhi with abhisheka, rudra, etc, and there onwards.

Kind rgds,
