Namaste,
Picking up a few month old thread.
The mantra under discussion is 5th mantra on puruSa sUkta.
Few interesting points should be noted:
- Three different entities are mentioned here: puruSa, virATa, adhi puruSa
- Following the commentary by sAyaNa:
puruSa = Adi puruSa
virATa = brahmANDa deha
adhi puruSa = paramAtmA
- There is a clear mention of a trinity here:
puruSa = Father
adhi puruSa = Son
virATa = let us call this entity (divine) Mother
- Labeling the entity identified with brahmANDa deha as ardhAngini of puruSa or
Adi mAtA (Mother) should be fine. In fact the word ardhAngini seems most
appropriate here.
- Interestingly, it is paramAtmA (the Son) who is call vedAnta vedya - the one who
is to be understood via study of vedAnata.
Hari Om.
Comments from people who have contemplated on these topics are welcome.
Comments from people into shAkta upAsanA will be very useful.
