[Advaita-l] Which is the source of the 'vārtika' here?

Namaste Sri Subbuji,

It seems to appear in DharmakIrti's prAmANa vArtika vritti.

03057 maNi-pradIpa-prabhayor maNi-buddhyA abhidhAvataH
03057 mithyA-jnAna-aviseSe api viseSo arthakriyAM prati

http://archive.li/WViMT

While this could be the "vArtika", it would be somewhat surprising that
vidyAraNya would quote DharmakIrti, a Buddhist, to explain samvAdi bhrama.
One alternative is another vArtika that predated DharmakIrti, perhaps the
sloka vArtika of kumAriLa bhaTTa. However this is only speculative on my
part, so please take it with a pinch of salt.

Regards,
Venkatraghavan

Namaste

In the Panchadashi of Swami Vidyaranya we have these verses in the ninth
chapter describing the samvādi and visamvādi bhrama-s:

maNipradIpaprabhayormaNibuddhyAbhidhAvatoH .
mithyAj~nAnAvisheShe.api visheSho.arthakriyAM prati .. 2..

In the commentary to the above, Sri Ramakrishna pandita says:
samvādibhramavat ityuktam prapanchayitum
samvādibhrama-pratipādaka-vārtikam paṭhati - maṇipradīpeti.

dIpopavarakasyAntarvartate tatprabhA bahiH .

It looks like Vidyaranya is citing from some vārtika here. If this thinking
is right, what is the source of these verses?

warm regards
subbu
