The verdict of all discussions on the Vedanta is that the Jīva and the whole universe are nothing but Brahman,

Yes, there is no svatantra astitva to brahma vyatirikta jeeva and jagat.  Hence the jeeva and the ‘whole’ universe are ‘nothing’ but brahman and this is the ‘verdict’ of all discussions on the vedAnta.
