Subbuji - PraNAms
Yes, Sanathana dharma does not endorse, peaceful living to be a door-mat for everyone to step on. It is active peaceful living than a passive one. Hence Lord declares that He takes birth to establish Dharma. Geetopadesha for Arjuna is not to indulge in violence but to establish Dharma. If Dharma can be established by peaceful means that one should go for it. Shree Krishna himself went as a peaceful messenger to avoid the war, but aatataayi Duryodhana was not ready to listen and he even tried to arrest the peace-messager. Stick is the only way to establish Dharma. All our God are well equipped with necessary missiles to do that.
Geeta, in essence, preaches how to attain the highest peace - Hence it is called yoga-shastra and Brahmavidya.
Hence it is considered as one of the prasthanatraya or one the three pillars of the Sanatha Dharma.
