In the third verse of the Bhujanga prayata stotram, Shankara says:

Bhajeham, Bhajeham, Bhajeham, Bhajeham. 3

that Shiva whispers the 'Rama' taaraka mantra in the ears of those who die
in Kaashi. Actually the name 'Rama' is given etymologically which means
Nirguna Brahman:
