Not to start a prolonged argument, but I think God is not necessarily
Brahman coupled with mAyA as suggested here. For instance, both
PrakAshAnanda and the bhAmatIkAra hold Brahman to be beyond all
transactions such as creation, etc. For PrakAshAnanda, it is clear that
avidyA reigns supreme and is responsible for creation
(kAryAnurUpanAdyanirvacanIyAjnAnameva kAraNamucitam -
vedAntasiddhAntamuktAvalI). Brahman does not play any role, although he
admits Brahman/Ishvara's role as figurative. Also, recollect that in the
vAkya tattvamasi, the tat pada is not Ishvara in the DSV of PrakAshAnanda,
but rather the nirguNa Brahman. So there is no question of admitting
Brahman as a superior being such as God.
