[Advaita-l] On anubhava as a pramANam

Namaste,
This is an interesting line in the Shankara bhAShya.

The import of this sentence is wonderfully explained in the ratnaprabhA
gloss. It is said there:

जिज्ञास्ये धर्म इव जिज्ञास्ये ब्रह्मणीति व्याख्येयम् । अनुभवो
ब्रह्मसाक्षात्काराख्यो विद्वदनुभवः । आदिपदान्मनननिदिध्यासनयोर्ग्रहः ।

तत्र हेतुमाह -

अनुभवेति ।

मुक्त्यर्थं ब्रह्मज्ञानस्य शाब्दस्य
साक्षात्कारावसानत्वापेक्षणात्प्रत्यग्भूतसिद्धब्रह्मगोचरत्वेन
साक्षात्कारफलकत्वसम्भवात् , तदर्थं मननाद्यपेक्षा युक्ता । धर्मे तु
नित्यपरोक्षे साध्ये साक्षात्कारस्यानपेक्षितत्वादसम्भवाच्च श्रुत्या
निर्णयमात्रमनुष्ठानायापेक्षितम् ।
