The Jabala Upanishad has, which Shankara has cited, ‘अथ
परिव्राड्विवर्णवासा मुण्डोऽपरिग्रहः शुचिरद्रोही भैक्षाणो ब्रह्मभूयाय भवति’
(जा. उ. ५)

इति । four times in the bhashyas. One can see that it contains ahimsa,
bhikshacharya, etc.

A friend shared a link to a book on Hari-Hara origins, etc.:

I learnt about the Harihara subsect on page 288 of this google book -
https://books.google.co.in/books?id=HQvbJDacNDMC&pg=
PA287&lpg=PA287&dq=harihara+subsect&source=bl&ots=QMdV4jLlSa&sig=qM-
BNyWNWzozOWnfYjJkZyKulrI&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjD35nW6OjZAhVMwI8KHSaLA
koQ6AEIKDAA#v=onepage&q=harihara%20subsect&f=false
It talks about Harihara iconography as mentioned in Agamas and Tantra. I'm
sure the Agamas predate 5 CE.
