This is a beautiful talk that could have been as well titled 'A gentle
introduction to Advaita Vedanta'. Swamiji expresses and conveys profound
ideas in such a friendly, empathetic and precise way that would be loved by
all, in line with his holy name Sarvapriyananda. I would recommend this
talk as much to regular college going youth as to Vedanta students and
enthusiasts.
His style of encapsulating the whole thing in the form of "3 problems, 3
solutions, 3 methods" is wonderful.
Problem: Ignorance (agnana)
Solution: knowledge (gnana)
Method: Listening - contemplation - ever-dwelling (shravaNa manana
nididhyasana)
This is the *ultimate* Tier 1 one problem and solution. If the method
doesn't work, that's because of problems in the previous level, ie. Tier 2.
Problem: Scattered mind (chitta vikshepa)
Solution: Focused mind (chitta ekagrata)
Method: Bhakti Yoga, Raja Yoga practices etc.
If these methods don't work, that's because of problems in the previous
level, Tier 3.
Problem: Impure mind (chitta mala)
Soultion: Pure mind (chitta shuddhi)
Method: Selfless works - Karma Yoga etc.
The way he brings up Ramana Maharishi and answers questions during Q & A is
also very nice.
The chants after the Q & A and the solo song following that are soaked in
divinity.
Listen to this, enjoy, learn and share.
