The prakriya should be in conformity with the Shrutis. We understand the Shrutis in accordance with the Bhashya. Hence the prakriya should be in conformity with the Bhashya.

This is very important statement I reckon. Being shankarAdvaita followers we should understand the Shruti as per bhAshya and we the mumukshu-s should follow the prakriya / s which is enshrined in Shruti / bhAshya and as directed by our guru / parampara.

But let us do some fact checks, Shankara makes an observation in his introduction to Geeta bhAshya that there were so many interpretations to Geeta shloka which are erroneous hence he will present / interpret it in a correct way. So, atleast as per shankara correct interpretation of Shruti / smruti vAkya is must to understand the prakriya recommended in Scripture. When prakriya-s are asaMkhyAta / anavasthitaa ( Sri rAghav prabhuji said this already in his direct mail to me y'day) there is lot of room to interpret these prakriya-s in different ways. Obviously the result also should vary when one follows the different interpretations of different prakriya-s or same prakriya. Under these circumstances, can we categorically conclude 'jnAna vrutti' arising out of different prakriya sAdhana or same prakriya with different understanding would be ONE and the SAME!!?? I really doubt. If that is the case why shankara opted for different interpretation when different interpretations of prakriya-s resulting in same goal?? Why there is fight among vyAkhyAnakAra-s (bhAmati and vivaraNa) when prakriya bedha hardly matters since the result is same?? Why there is an urge to 'go back to shankara' when oginal bhAshya and vyakhyAna-s which are followed are full of MERE prakriya bedha and end result is SAME?? Don’t they (our vyAkhyAnakAra-s and some others who want to sideline vyAkhyAna and preferred original bhAshya) understand this simple thing that we would be drinking the same water in different sized / shaped clay/ silver/ gold tumbler ??? There must be some valid reason behind all these issues is it not ?? If that is not the case then we have to unwillingly conclude our most respected traditional vyAkhyAnakAra-s and Acharya-s who were insisted for direct reference to original bhAshya-s, were all egocentric individuals who were unable to understand this simple truth of prakriya bedha and resultant same goal. I don’t know whether it is worthy to entertain these thoughts. Just thinking aloud.

Hari Hari Hari Bol!!!
