Apropos the trailing mail, I am presenting the definition as provided to me by my teacher 
from BG notes.  A beautiful definition of प्रहसन्निव :

प्रहसन्निव - अन्येषां धिक्कारं कुर्वन् अभिमानी कश्चित् पण्डितः लघुकुर्वन् प्रहसति । 
किन्तु भगवान् कृष्णः न तादृशः । तस्य ज्ञाननिष्ठा "इव​" शब्देन सूच्यते ॥

The indeclinable 'iva' denotes the 'jnAna-niSTa' of Bhagavan Krishna.
