Bhashya on mantra 12

<< प्रकृतिः कारणम् अव्याकृताख्यम् , तामसम्भूतिमव्याकृताख्यां प्रकृतिं
कारणमविद्यां कामकर्मबीजभूतामदर्शनात्मिकाम् उपासते >>,

<< prakRRitiH kAraNam avyAkRRitAkhyam , tAmasambhUtimavyAkRRitAkhyAM
prakRRitiM kAraNamavidyAM kAmakarmabIjabhUtAmadarshanAtmikAm upAsate >>,

Sri Bhagavatpada , not vyAkhyAnakArAs, has stated
prakruti/kAraNa/avyAkruta as synonymous with avidyA. Sri SSS himself, in
the footnotes to this part of the Bhashya, while offering his explanation,
does indeed concede that here in this Bhashya avyAkruta has been stated
as synonymous with avidyA. He also observes that this is also termed
mAyA/shakti/bIja etc elsewhere in the Bhashya and reers to BSB
2-1-14,1-4-3,1-2-22.
