Sayanacharya in the Narayana Sukta Bhashya has said 'the Narayana of this
sukta is not any 'murti vishesha', that is, it is not any particular formed
entity.
There are three popular usages from Shankara's pen:
Brahmanuchintanam
Vivekachudamani
yasya prasAdAt ahameva vishnuH, mayyeva sarvam parikalpitam cha.
Vakyavritti
All these three names have etymological meanings that show the Brahma
Tattva rather than a formed person.
regards
subbu
