Yes. The hallmark of karma is samkalpa (intention.)  When something is 
done for a purpose whether good or evil it will have an effect.  When 
karma is done not for a motive but out of dharmic duty and as an offering 
to Bhagavan it is karmayoga and atleast puts a break on further 
entanglement in samsara but for mukti even it must ultimately be 
renounced.
