In the Srimadbhagavata is the famous dialogue between King Rahugana and
Sage Jadabharata where core Vedantic tenets are brought out.  Here the term
'Vaasudeva' is given the Vedantic meaning.  We generally think it refers to
the individual Krishna, the son of Vasudeva.


ज्ञानं विशुद्धं परमार्थमेकमनन्तरं त्वबहिर्ब्रह्म सत्यम्
प्रत्यक्प्रशान्तं भगवच्छब्दसंज्ञं यद्वासुदेवं कवयो वदन्ति ११  5.12.11

1. Jnanam - Consciousness
2. Vishuddham - Blemishless
3. Paramartham - Absolute, as opposed to relative, vyavaharikam
4. Ekam - Only, non-dual
5. Anantaram abahir - Without 'in - out' distinctions
6. Brahman -
7. Satyam - Absoultely real, without any transformations
8. Pratyak - Innermost
9. Prashantam - Tranquil
10. Bhagavan  - Ishwara, endowed with the six-fold attributes

In the Bhashyas, Shankara has used the term 'Vaasudeva' in these occasions
where Knowledge, realization is meant:
