Normally ashtOttara-s would carry lot of eulogy we should not interpret it literally. For example, nAma-s like varNashrama pratishtAtre namaH, advaita sthApanAchAryaya namaH etc.

Yes, this is known.  The method adopted in the article is: from the inputs available in the Prasthana traya bhashya one can see that Shankara is not averse to the idea of shan-mata-s.
