The name 'Hari' is also that of Hara (Shiva) - Skanda Purana
स्कन्दपुराणम्/खण्डः १ (माहेश्वरखण्डः)/केदारखण्डः/अध्यायः ०५
हरे हरेति वै नाम्ना शंभोश्चक्रधरस्य च॥
रक्षिता बहवो मर्त्याः शिवेन परमात्मना॥ ५.८७ ॥
There are many praises of Parameshwara as Parabrahman in this chapter. In
this verse, it is said that by calling out 'O Hari', the names of Shiva and
Vishnu, humans will be blessed with the protection of Shiva.
In the Mahabharata, the name 'Hari' occurs at the very beginning of the
Shiva Sahasranama which Krishna preaches to Yudhishthira:

In the Harivamsha, Paramashiva says to Krishna:

अहं त्वं सर्वगो देव त्वमेवाहं जनार्दन ।
आवयोरन्तरं नास्ति शब्दैरर्थैर्जगत्पते ।। 3.88.६० ।।
I am You, O the All-pervading Lord, and You are me indeed. There is no
difference between us. Both our names and their meanings are same.
नामानि तव गोविन्द यानि लोके महान्ति च ।
तान्येव मम नामानि नात्र कार्या विचारणा ।। ६१ ।।
O Govinda, whatever great names there are for you, they are also my names.
There is no doubt about it.
त्वदुपासा जगन्नाथ सैवास्ति मम गोपते ।
यश्च त्वां द्वेष्टि देवेश स मां द्वेष्टि न संशयः ।। ६२ ।।
Your worship is my worship. Whoever hates you hates me too.
Sankara quotes these Harivamsha verses in the introduction to his
Vishnusahasranama Bhasya.
Thus Hari-Hara Abheda, non-difference, is taught, even by censuring the
difference between the Two, in the vast Veda Vyasa literature.
