Three avatAra-s of Adi mAtA canDikA/ durgA - each created two children similar in guNa-s to
the durgA avatAra:
- mahA kAli with dominance of tamas crated: rudra and sarasvati
- mahA lakShmi with dominance of rajas created : brahmA and lakShmi 
- mahA sarasvati with dominance of sattva created : viShNu and gauri

Please note, that there is no suggestion here regarding one guNa being superior or one
guNa being inferior. Each guNa is critical to creation.

There are many hymns composed by the 33rd Sringeri Acharya on the concept
of Sharada/Saraswati as the sister of Shiva.  Are there any references in
the Puranas, etc. for this relationship?
