Yes, some of the prakaraNas' authorship still in question in scholarly circle. But traditionalists who firmly believe that anything and everything that is there in the name of bhAshyakAra as the genuine works of bhAshyakAra himself would argue like this: since bhagavatpaada is 'jagadguru' his style and presentation is not that of stereotype, keeping various 'adhikaari-s/ sAdhakas in mind he might have written various works on various subjects without restricting himself to particular subject. So various works including veda, vedaanta, yoga, taNtra, stotra etc. are all from the pen of prasthAnatraya bhAshyakAra only if at all it is tagged to him. However, these issues are still open for debate in academic circle and within the traditional circle as well. For example, late Prof. SKR, who was headed Kalpataru saMshOdhana Kendra herein Bengaluru outrightly rejected soundaryalahari's authorship by bhAshyakAra citing the reason that it is purely a taNtra based work!!
Hari Hari Hari Bol!!!

Dear friends,
Please correct me if I am wrong, I have the impression that most of the Advaitin teachers today imagine that Adi Shankara had written the book "Saundaryalahari", but they had not been able to say as to how they arrived at that conclusion.
In fact,to my understanding, the first portion consisting of 41 verses of that book is called "Anandalahari", was composed by a brahmin king. The second portion of that book, consisting of 59 verses of that book, is called "Saundaryalahari", and that was composed by the great Navavatara, Shri Abhinava Shankaracharya, who was born in the 8th century AD.
I am sure, Adi Shankaracharya, a great lover of truth, is surely most unhappy with the people trying to give false credit to him (i.e., to Adi
Shankara) for the book "Anandalahari".
Regards,
Sunil K. Bhattacharjya
