Shruti Saara Samuddharanam means extracting the essence of the Shruti /
Veda. It is the major work of Totakaacharya who is traditionally considered
as one of the four principal disciples of Aadi Shankaraachaarya. The text
consists of 179 verses in totaka chandas (meter), which bring out the
essential meaning of the Upanishads. The teaching is presented in the form
of a dialogue between a student and guru.
