In the Brihadaranyaka Bhashya, Bhagavatpada says:
‘भस्मान्तं शरीरम्’ (ई. उ. १७)

; न हि पारिव्राज्यपक्षे भस्मान्तता शरीरस्य स्यात् ।
For a Sannyasin the end (of the bodily life) is not cremation (body being
burnt).
Does this mean that even during Shankaracharya's times the practice of not
cremating the body of a Sannyasin but interring it in a
samadhi/adhishthanam was in vogue?
