[Advaita-l] A question about antya karma

Namaste
I had a friend who sadly lost a baby less than a year old,  a few days back
in the UK. He asked me whether cremation or burial is the norm for a baby.
They incidentally belong to a shakha of Krishna yajur veda.

I understand cremation is the default norm.  But is burial permitted due to
the young age if the baby? I was once told that for a sannyasi and for very
young children, cremation is not compulsory.

Any inputs on this are welcome.
