[Advaita-l] Basic concepts of anumAna-pramANa

Namaste.

I am not sure if there could be so much divergence between different
commentators on the vedantic view of anumAna pramANa. For whatever it is
worth, I would like to bring to the attention of members on the
understanding stated by Sri Mani Dravid Shastri Ji on this topic in his
tamil talk covering PanchapAdikA, link copied below. His view directly
contradicts what is attributed to Sri Panchanan Bhattacharya ji and Swami
Vidyananda Giri ji.

//  दृश्यते हि लिङ्गज्ञानसंस्कारयोः सम्भूय लिङ्गिज्ञानोत्पादनं,
प्रत्यभिज्ञानोत्पादनञ्च अक्षसंस्कारयोः । उभयत्रापि स्मृतिगर्भमेकमेव
प्रमाणज्ञानम् //

Sri MDS makes an explicit statement that *this forms the basis for the
vedantic view of anumAna pramANa as elaborated in Vedanta ParibhAsha.*
Since VivaraNa is a further elaboration of PanchapAdikA, I presume this
applies to VivaraNa as well.

There are many members here in these Forums who refer to Sri MDS for
clarifications. It would be appropriate, in my view, for some of these
members to draw attention of Sri MDS to these divergent views and seek
clarificaion.
