[Advaita-l] Question on the posture to be followed in Upasana

Fine question! Thanks for putting the question in the group.

If we see the BSB 4.1.7, AchArya at the outset itself makes it clear that
the discussion is only about those upAsanA which are not related to
karma-anga.

So, 4.1.7 is neither applicable to upAsanA-related-to-karma-anga nor to
samyak-darshana.

Now, sandhyA is a nitya-karma. GAyatrI mantra is a upAsanA which is
connected with the auxiliaries of karma (sandhyA). So, the rules for
sandhyA would regulate the rules of upAsanA (GAyatrI).

So, even if Manu Smriti says that morning SandhyA is to be performed
standing and evening one sitting, the same is beyond the scope of 4.1.7
being upAsanA-related-to-karma-anga as it is basically a part of nitya
karma named sandhyA.
