In my opinion, this is not a helpful way of looking at it.  

>  Yes prabhuji, this is not at all a helpful way rather it is more of a dangerous atheistic way of looking at it.  But according to some, shiva, vishNu, chaturmukha brahmaa, gaNapati etc. and guru-Acharya including shankara bhagavatpAda just 'phantasy figures'  in the conditioned mind of tiny soul.  Only intellectually inferior sAdhaka-s can engage in this type of sAdhana and when he elevates himself to the 'next level' sAdhana he would realizes these celestial beings are just his own big bhrama and there is 'nothing' like that.  

The problem is not these things are "fantasy figures" but they are not the total picture.

A jnani can continue in believing in jagat karana etc. he just realizes that Brahman is not _only_ the jagat karana, that Brahman is so much _more_than jagat karan.

>  Yes, that is why shruti says for the jagat brahman is ekaM eva abhinna nimittOpadAna kAraNa but something beyond that also.  atyatishTa dashAgulaM says veda.  Yes brahman is in its very nature is without prANa, manas he is pure 'aprANohyamaNAH shubhraH'  but from him only the prANa, manas and all Indriya-s have been originated etasmAtjjaayate prANaH manassarvendriyAni.  The bhAshyakAra also confirms this in katha shruti bhAshya by clarifying : the brahman is completely and totally nirguNa, nirvishesha, niravayava. However, It DOES exist because It is known to be the cause of the Jagat.  

>  These Upanishad siddhAnta, verdicts of bhAshyakAra suffering badly in the hands of some dry logicians who want to evaluate even shruti siddhAnta with their logic.
