I would say...

Sureshwaracharya
----------------

In his purvashrama the Mimamsaka Mandana Mishra, on becoming a disciple of
Shankaracharya wrote important works explaining and defending his teachers
positions on the relationship between karma and Jnana.

Shriharsha
----------

His Khandanakhandakhadya is the first great polemical work of Advaita
Vedanta and still one of the best. It firmly bases Advaita Vedanta on
logical grounds.

Swami Ananand Giri
------------------

The authoritative commentator on most of Shankaracharyas works.

Swami Bharati Tirth and Swami Vidyaranya
----------------------------------------

This illustrious Guru-shishya pair were Jagadgurus of Shringeri and
responsible many major works.

Appaya Dikshita
---------------

A genius who wrote on many shastras including authoritative works on
Advaita Vedanta.

Swami Madhusudan Saraswati
--------------------------

The leading Advaitin of his generation and polemicist against Dvaita.
He clearly and cogently explained the relationship between Jnana and
Bhakti.

Vivekananda
-----------

The most important person on this list in terms of "propagating" Advaita
philosophy. The least important in terms of "best understood"

Swami Jayendra Saraswati
------------------------

Probably this centuries most popular teacher and philosopher of Advaita
Vedanta.
