Strictly speaking, such instances of "mixed caste" children are not Sudras
according to the dharmashAstra-s. Agreed that the structure of Kerala
society was and is extremely complicated, but by that very token, it is too
simplistic to fit everybody at some rung of the classical four varNa system.
