1. In kUrmapurANam :

tadA me sakale rUpe kAlAdye.anantabhedini..
yadeva rUpaM me tAta manasogocharastava.

2. In yogavAsiShTha :
sAmAnyaM paramaM cheti dve rUpe viddhi me.anagha.
pANyAdiyuktaM sAmAnyaM yattu mUDhA upAsate..
paraM rUpamanAdyantaM yanmamaikamanAmayam.
brahmAtmAparamAtmAdishabdenaitadudIryate..
3. In gItA
avyaktA hi gatirduHkhaM dehavadbhiravApyate.
There are some more evidences, but I'm unable to recall them.
Anyhow, vedAnata declares brahman devoid of name and form and knowledge of
this brahman direct cause of liberation. As it is difficult, so brahman took
form, etc. (this is what kUrma says.) to make incapable ones able to walk on
path of liberation.
yogavAsiShTha says these people mUDha.
gItA says path of nirguNa difficult.
