[Advaita-l] Sanskrit grammar and bhiksha

"[he] bhavati ! [tvam] bhikShAm dehi' is gramatically correct. The
sambodhana word is effectively a separate sentence. Also, note that the
sambodhana for mAtR is "mAtaH" ... it does not follow the pattern for other
A-kArAnta words.

In the gita (2.26) we have "[he] mahAbAho ! na tvam shocitum arhasi".

The exact phrasing "bhavati bhiksham dehi" is expected by the sutrakAras.
The bodhayana dharma sutras (1.2.17) say that the phrase has 7 letters.
(bhavat-pUrvAm bhikShAmadhyAm yA~ncAntAm caret, satpAksharAm).

If you use dadAtu instead of dehi, you will end up with 8 letters.
