So it seems hand gestures are forbidden in the kR^iShNa yajur and R^ig vedas.

praNAms Sri Rama prabhuji
Hare Krishna

Apart from this I heard other rules also like neck position, the pitch of the voice etc. that needs to be observed during the veda recitation. But I have seen somany GhanapAti-s not observing these rules and while chanting saMhita, krama, Ghana etc. they shake their necks upward/downward, making hand gestures (varies from individual to individual) and other mannerisms. And frankly I too not an exception. Whatever little I know, while chanting those mantra-s, without knowing, automatically I make gestures. Do we accrue any sin by doing the vedic recitation with these mannerisms though svarAkshara pada varNa is correct in recitation?? Please clarify. I sincerely hope it is not a strict rule since I am used to other way round :-)

PS: I have seen in shankara TV, during chakrArchana, chandramoULishwara, shAradAmba Pooja and ashtAvadhAna seva some ghanapAti-s making some gestures while reciting the veda mantra-s.
