[Advaita-l] Gayatri variations across the four vedas

Namaste everyone

Does the Gayatri mantra (used for Sandhya) have variations in the different
Vedas?

There is a message doing the rounds to the effect that there is a special
gayatri for the atharva veda and the regular upanayana is not enough to
learn this atharva Gayatri . Is there any truth in this?
