[Advaita-l] kshatriya dharma according to manu smriti and its interpretation today?

In the animal world animals fight for leadership of the herd. The idea is
the strongest will be able protect the herd more effectively.
I think that the same principle operates in the kshatriya dharma. The
kshatriyas fight in order to detemine who is the strongest and
the strongest assumes office.
In Vishnupurana Khandikya's reply to Kesidhvaja when he was asked why he
did not ask the kingdom as gurudakshina
illustrates this point.
