[Advaita-l] TUNE WITH DIVINE ORDER

Namaste,
I had an acquaintance with Sikhism only recently after listening to a
youtube talk by Prof. Kapil Kapoor. A perusal of the Sikh texts shows how
closely
Sikhism is related to the non-dual philosophy of the Upanishads. The
mula-mantra of the Sikhs is a collection of terms used to refer to absolute
Brahman in the Upanishads. Thi mula-mantra, held as most sacred like the
Gayatri mantra, which goes like

इक् ओङ्कार् सत् नाम् कर्ता-पुरख् निर्भय् निर्वैर् अकाल् मूरत् अयूनि सै भन्
गुरुप्रसाद् will be seen as the same as
एकः ओङ्कारः सत् नाम कर्ता पुरुषः निर्भयः निर्वैरः अकालः मूर्तिः अयोनिः
स्वयम्भूः गुरुप्रसाद्. Though it is beyond time, अकालः, it also takes a
form, मूर्तिः.
It is better to read the Granth Sahib in its Hindi translation, not in
English, because the Sanskrit terms used in the text can be easily
identified.
It may be a good exercise for students of Advaita to study the texts of
Sikhism and also note the sociological conditions which made Guru Nanak to
bring out the essence of Hinduism as a religion on its own merits.
