Dear Sir,                      A perusal of the Sikh texts shows how closely Sikhism is related to the non-dual philosophy of the Upanishads:
We all have been trying to correlate the Sikhism with advaita since many years & your reference gives a clear picture of the fundamental roots of sikhism are Hindu-Advaita only.
I will try to read Guru grantha Sahib in hindi to get the essence of non-duality.
The mula-mantra of the Sikhs is a collection of terms used to refer to absolute Brahman in the Upanishads.
Whether it is mula-mantra or Gayatri mantra or any mantra will only make the individual to arouse his kundalini and makes  to reach his preceptor there by leading the path to liberation.
One thing is sure that if you can hold the mantra, it is certain that you will reach the divine lotus feet undoubtedly.

sociological conditions which made Guru Nanak to bring out the essence of Hinduism as a religion on its own merits.

Pls advise to get more details for this or any books what are those sociological conditions which made the Guru Nanak to bring out the essence of Hinduism as a  Religion.

Namaste, I had an acquaintance with Sikhism only recently after listening to a youtube talk by Prof. Kapil Kapoor. A perusal of the Sikh texts shows how closely Sikhism is related to the non-dual philosophy of the Upanishads. The mula-mantra of the Sikhs is a collection of terms used to refer to absolute Brahman in the Upanishads. Thi mula-mantra, held as most sacred like the Gayatri mantra, which goes like
इक् ओङ्कार् सत् नाम् कर्ता-पुरख् निर्भय् निर्वैर् अकाल् मूरत् अयूनि सै भन् गुरुप्रसाद् will be seen as the same as
एकः ओङ्कारः सत् नाम कर्ता पुरुषः निर्भयः निर्वैरः अकालः मूर्तिः अयोनिः स्वयम्भूः गुरुप्रसाद्. Though it is beyond time, अकालः, it also takes a form, मूर्तिः. It is better to read the Granth Sahib in its Hindi translation, not in English, because the Sanskrit terms used in the text can be easily identified. It may be a good exercise for students of Advaita to study the texts of Sikhism and also note the sociological conditions which made Guru Nanak to bring out the essence of Hinduism as a religion on its own merits. Aravinda Rao

Dear Members,                          Today's speaking tree article in TIMES speaks something about the Alignment of Individual with Hukum to attain inner peace by          Sh.Harvinder Pal Singh.
Here is the Link: https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/blogs/toi-edit-page/align-with-the-hukum-to-attain-inner-peace/
Hukam is just another law of the universe, as are the laws of gravity, light and sound. ‘Hukamey andar sabko, bahar hukam na koe’ – everyone is subject to this law and no one is beyond it. It is through this hukam that you experience bliss and grief. But the mind creates a fantasy world of its own and prefers to live in that dream. Actions that please the mind are accepted; it complains when things do not go its way. The mind rejects the cosmic reality represented by the hukam and wants the universe to behave according to its own way. A conflict thus arises between what is happening inside us and the world outside.

If joy and sorrow come from the same hand, why then make a difference between the two. They will lose their impact the day you realise this. ‘Jinhey pashantha hukam, kadey na rovai’ – those who recognise the Lord’s command, never weep. The universe is not against us, it is we who are resisting it. Aligning with the hukam will only assist in harmonising us with the Divine will and attaining inner peace.
