Namaste Raghavji,
Thanks, you've perfectly summarised my understanding as well. When I stated
earlier that nididhyAsana counters viparIta-bhAvana culminating in
brahmaniShThA, I meant that jnAnI has viparIta-bhAvana once in a while, due
to saMskAras remaining, not ones that are binding the person all the while,
after a mere glimpse of jnAna, which may be without manana also! jnAnaM
asya astIti jnAnI should be seen as most of the time having
jnAna (although it has matubarthe ini pratyaya, Nini meaning seems more
appropriate, in that it has tAchChIla artha), if not all the time
(pashvAdibhishchAvisheShAt comes to mind). As someone had convincingly
stated on this very list years back, quoting JMV, something to the effect
so: since no one can really know how much of bAdhaka vAsanAs are there
waiting to manifest, and thereby a fall possible from otherwise end in
videhamukti, jnAna-rakShaNa is needed, and one should also try for
vAsanakShaya and manonAsha too.
